Parapsychology VS Paranormal Investigation
The terms may seem very similar, but don't be fooled, they are very different things entirely. Parapsychology by definition refers to the study, research and scientific observation of that which exisits beyond or outside of the human mind. Parapsychologists are researchers, scientists and usually doctors who engage in the study and education of such subjects as paranormal activity, analysis of anomalous data/evidence and the study of extrasensory mental ability. Where the confusion is found is in the similarity of subject matter, but this is where the connection also ends. Though it is true that parapsychologists often work in collaboration with paranormal investigation teams, there is a vast distinction between terms "investigation" vs "research". Paranormal investigators are people with a vested interest in the paranormal and will often form groups of people who purchase readily availible equipment and venture into enviorments noted as being haunted or having a traumatic past hense being a hotspot for paranormal activity. It should be noted that there is no formal education involved in becoming a paranromal investigator and many are amatures with a passion who pursue investigation as a hobby. It is advised to be well informed of the these differences as paranromal investigators are not qualified to engage in scientific research or to provide therapy or education on a professional level. Unfortuatley, some pose as professionals, so be warned.
